Since my last update on Singularity: Tactics Arena, I have continued to work on the story as well as fleshing out some of the player skills and items. The battle system is set, but now I find myself in the phase where I’m fine-tuning damage formulas, states, resistances and vulnerabilities, etc. I’ll admit, this is not an area I have a lot of experience in on the dev side. Making sure that each class and subclass have abilities that define their role, synergize well with others, and still leaves room for multiclassing is very difficult work. It’s fun though. I’m just having the AI go through a bunch of mock battles and seeing what skills/items/etc are fair or not. So far I only have tier 1 enemies and skills built out, so this process will probably get a lot more complicated once we reach tier 2.

Additionally, building animations and creating custom pixel art is kicking my ass. It’s a lot of work, but it’s also surprisingly one of the most enjoyable parts of gamedev. Working on some new game art (title screen is looking pretty great), and finally have another gameplay video for you. This is a short battle sequence displaying some basic tier 1 movesets.

On another note, I should probably think about updating my laptop, since my recording software seems to be adding an inordinate amount of lag to the game.
